The Scanning Equipment of the Munich Digitization Center
The Munich Digitization Center uses the following scanning devices:
| Two scanner of the type "Grazer Kameratisch" for the digitization of very precious or fragile manuscripts and books. Format: Up to A3 Resolution: Up to 600ppi More pictures |

| Three innovative Scan Robots by the Austrian company Treventus, capable of scanning up to 1800 pages per hour. Two of them are currently used in the project "Digitization of 16th century printed books (V16 digital)".

New: The prototype of a thermographic scanner for the digitization of watermarks, developed by the Fraunhofer-Institute for Wood Research - Wilhelm-Klauditz-Institut (WKI) in Braunschweig (Germany). MDZ and WKI are in the process of compiling the specifications for the whole system, in cooperation with the Institut for Book Restoration and Conservation and the Manuscript Department. Productive state is scheduled for April 2009. First use case will be the project for the digitisdation of the blockbooks of the Bavarian State Library, funded by the German Research Foundation.
